Meet Teresa – Founder of Metta Movement

Teresa has spent her life teaching movement and over the decades helped thousands of people move easier! She’s appeared on National TV, in bestselling workout DVD’s and taught in sell out fitness weekends around the UK. Teresa spent many years teaching classes and managing the timetables in the hottest clubs in London and the mighty studios in Sydney, Australia (you may have seen her on Aerobics Oz Style back in the day!)

in the year 2000, after a severe back condition led her to re think her career, Teresa travelled to Toronto to study the STOTT Method of Pilates at the world renowned Merrithew Studios.

Upon her return, she continued her training with Polestar Pilates in London and in 2005 she opened her home studio in Nottingham working with the reformer and other equipment, with whilst tutoring and assessing Pilates level 3 certification courses up and down the UK.

Since 2009, Teresa has worked tirelessly in the local community teaching Pilates and mobility classes and helping people move more. Her training never ceases. Previously trading as She Shines Pilates, Teresa opened her small group training reformer studio in September 2023, rebranding in January 2024 to Metta Movement.

Teresa’s positive and friendly manner combined with a huge knowledge base and experience that spans decades will keep you coming back.

Meet Chloe.

Chloe grew up in St. Augustine, Florida where she danced in the kitchen and in studios from a young age.

She has a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University and a MFA in Choreography from Trinity Laban where she was a Leverhulme Scholar.

She completed her Pilates mat certification at The Kane School in New York in 2019 and in 2023 completed her STOTT reformer training in London.

As a teacher, choreographer, performer and person Chloe believes in empathy, holding space, compassion, play, accountability, and lots of questions.

Chloe’s caring nature will ensure that you are well looked after when you come to class.

Meet Hirisa!

Hiry  was born in Italy and studied dance throughout her life.

After graduating from IDA dance school, she worked as a professional dancer, participating in numerous theatre shows Italy. She dedicated herself to teaching modern and contemporary dance classes and in 2014 she discovered the Pilates method. Her Pilates career started in Italy and after moving to London in 2016 she resumed her career in teaching Pilates, Barre, Piloxing and Zumba.

Living in the UK has ensured that she deepens her knowledge by studying the Stott Pilates method, the contemporary approach to the original works of Pilates and always offering the best for the well-being of her clients.

Hiry’s classes are fun, energising and her instructions always clear and concise.

 

Meet Jemma!

Jemma is a STOTT Instructor teaching in London and the South East.
Since gaining her certification Jemma has taught at various studios in and around London.
Originally trained as a dancer and working in the West End, Jemma is also a keen aerialist!
Her awareness of the body and core connection form a key part of her teaching as well as her focus on balance and alignment.
Jemma’s friendly and upbeat personality make her welcome addition to the Metta Movement team.

Meet Amy!

Amy has always enjoyed teaching and sharing her passion of movement.
Having qualified as a Matwork instructor with BASI she has also trained to teach on the Reformer, Cadillac and other equipment.
She has travelled the world working and currently performs onstage in London’s West End show “Mamma Mia – the Musical”
Amy has studied a variety of dance forms and gained her Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education.
Amy’s classes are all about the small changes you can make to your workout to be able to get a deeper connection to work your body harder…you’ll love her!
